UNION LANDING HISTORICAL SOCIETY of BRIELLE

MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Union Landing Historical Society (ULHS) shall be to bring together. those people interested in the history of the Borough of Brielle, New Jersey, and surrounding areas.

The Society's major function will be to discover and collect any material which may help to establish or illustrate the history of Brielle and the surrounding area; to provide for the preservation of such material; and to disseminate this historical information to encourage interest in Brielle’s past.

 

MISSION ACTIVITIES

The Society’s key function is to discover and collect any material that may help to establish or illustrate the history of Brielle and the surrounding area, including its exploration, settlement, development, and activities in peace and war, as well as its progress in population, wealth, education, arts, science, agriculture, manufacturing, trade, and transportation.

The Society collects and preserves printed materials such as histories, genealogies, and biographies; manuscript materials such as letters, diaries and journals; oral and taped reminiscences; and other materials such as service records, account books, charts, surveys, field books, and other material objects illustrative of the life, conditions, events and activities of the past.

The Society strives to disseminate historical information and encourage interest in the past by publishing historical materials, by holding meetings, presentations, and visits to historic sites, and by marking historic buildings, sites, and trails in Brielle.
