Welcome to the Union Landing Historical Society of Brielle

Brielle is a community with a rich history that was settled in the late 1600’s along the northern banks of the Manasquan River. Originally the town was known as Union Landing after the dock, or landing, at the end of Union Lane. Subsequently, the town officially adopted the name Brielle, after Brielle, Holland, due to the many windmills that dotted the farms in the early days of the town.

EVENTS

Annually ULHS participates in three special events: Brielle Day, 9-11 Memorial Observation and Archive Day, holds several speaker meetings on local history, gives regular talks on Brielle’s history and maintains displays on Brielle’s history at the town’s library and Borough Hall. The Board meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month.

PURPOSE

The purpose of ULHS is to collect and preserve historical data and artifacts of Brielle for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations
